style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Start-Up Visa program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SUV) offers Canadian permanent residence to qualified immigrant entrepreneurs.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The program targets innovative entrepreneurs and links them with private sector investors in Canada who will help establish their start-up business.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Initially a three-year pilot, the program was made permanent in 2018.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Candidates can initially come to Canada on a work permit supported by their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/start-up-visa-program#designated\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">designated Canada-based investor<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, before qualifying for permanent residence once their business is up and running.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are three types of private-sector investor:<\/span><\/p><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Angel investor.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venture capital fund.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Business Designated Entity?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2ea9f69 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2ea9f69\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A designated entity is a Canadian private sector angel investor, venture capital fund or business incubator.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The required commitment must meet the following criteria:<\/span><\/p><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A designated <\/span><b>angel investor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> group must invest at least $75,000 into the qualifying business. Candidates can also qualify with two or more investments from angel investor groups totalling $75,000.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A designated <\/span><b>venture capital fund<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> must confirm that it is investing at least $200,000 into the qualifying business. However, certain candidates may be designated essential to the business.
