It supports skilled and semi-skilled positions and includes three categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Entry Level\/Semi-Skilled Occupations<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Skilled Worker<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>NWT Express Entry<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Employers must operate a registered business or government office in the territory for at least one year before applying. They must be in good standing with the <strong>Workers\u2019 Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC)<\/strong> and compliant with the <strong>Employment Standards Act.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Job offers must be <strong>full-time, permanent<\/strong>, and consistent with NWT wage standards. Employers must provide a detailed job description, proof of job advertising (if no<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/labour-market-impact-assessments-lmia-in-canada\/\"> Labour Market Impact Assessment<\/a> is submitted), and evidence that no Canadian or permanent resident could fill the role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To qualify, nominees must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have a full-time, permanent job offer from an eligible employer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet the educational and experience requirements for their occupation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possess one year of full-time work experience in a related job within the past ten years, or 18 months of continuous full-time work in the NWT.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold valid legal work status in Canada.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet the minimum language requirement for their occupation (CLB 4 or higher)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Approved nominees receive a <strong>Work Permit Support Letter<\/strong> to apply for an employer-specific,<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/jobs-that-are-exempt-from-the-lmia-requirement\/\"> LMIA-exempt work permit<\/a> while awaiting permanent residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Francophone Stream<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Francophone Stream<\/strong> supports bilingual (French and English) foreign nationals with a valid job offer in the NWT. It aims to strengthen the bilingual workforce and promote the growth of French-speaking communities across the territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Demonstrate proficiency of <strong>CLB 5 in French<\/strong> and <strong>CLB 4 in English<\/strong>, achieved in one testing session each.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold a permanent, full-time job offer from an eligible employer in any NOC TEER category (0\u20135).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have at least one year of work experience in their nominated occupation within the last ten years, or six months of full-time work in the same occupation in the NWT.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet education requirements equivalent to at least Canadian high school standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Employers must be in good standing, maintain an active business in the NWT, and provide an offer consistent with local wage and labour standards. Refugee claimants and applicants through Express Entry are not eligible for this stream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Approved nominees may receive a <strong>Work Permit Support Letter<\/strong> to apply for an LMIA-exempt work permit linked to their nominating employer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Business Stream<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Business Stream<\/strong> targets entrepreneurs and investors who want to start or purchase a business in the Northwest Territories. It is managed by the <strong>Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To qualify, applicants must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Invest at least <strong>$200,000 CAD<\/strong> in a business within Yellowknife or <strong>$100,000 CAD<\/strong> in a business outside Yellowknife.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrate a <strong>net worth<\/strong> of at least <strong>$500,000 CAD<\/strong> (inside Yellowknife) or <strong>$250,000 CAD<\/strong> (outside Yellowknife).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Own at least <strong>33.3%<\/strong> of the business (or less if investing $1 million or more).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Achieve <strong>CLB 4<\/strong> in English or French.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrate knowledge of the territory and its economy, and have relevant management experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants must first complete a self-assessment, make a business trip to the territory, and attend a face-to-face interview.
