{"id":11861,"date":"2016-10-03T20:23:01","date_gmt":"2016-10-03T20:23:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigrationca.staging.wpengine.com\/fr\/?p=11861"},"modified":"2021-07-04T06:37:34","modified_gmt":"2021-07-04T10:37:34","slug":"northwest-territories-nunavut-immigration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/northwest-territories-nunavut-immigration\/","title":{"rendered":"Northwest Territories and Nunavut Immigration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At present, Nunavut has no immigrant nominee program, however the Northwest Territories have recently initiated their own nominee program.<\/p>\n<p>F<span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">oreign nationals wishing to relocate to Northwest Territories may apply under the Northwest Territories Program for provincial nomination. An application may be submitted under one of the following four categories: <a href=\"#skilledworker\"><strong>Skilled Worker<\/strong><\/a> ; <strong><a href=\"#criticalworker\">Critical Impact Worker<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>; <a href=\"#entrepreneurbus\"><strong>Entrepreneur Business<\/strong><\/a> ; <a href=\"#selfemployedbus\"><strong>Self-Employed Business<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a name=\"skilledworker\"><\/a>Northwest Territories Skilled Worker Program<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In order to qualify under this program, the following criteria must be satisfied:<\/p>\n<p>The Employer must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Have a job vacancy;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Identify a potential nominee;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Be a registered business, industry association or a local, municipal, First Nation or Territorial government in the NWT that has been registered and operational for a minimum of one year;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Be in good standing with the Worker\u2019s Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) and the NWT Employment Standards Office;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Provide proof of local and national recruitment efforts and submit a summary of results;\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Obtain a positive HRSDC Service Canada Labour Market Opinion.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">The offer of employment must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Be for a permanent full time position (minimum 30 hours per week);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Be in an occupation that falls into high skill level occupation;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Not conflict with existing collective bargaining agreements;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Comply with the NWT Employment Standards Act;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Provide a comparable industry rate of pay.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Nominee must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Have the required certification or accreditation for the specific trade or occupation;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">If applicable, meet territorial certification, licensing or registration requirements of the job;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Have the required work experience for the specific occupation;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Provide proof of sufficient financial or settlement supports in the NWT;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Be able to communicate in either English or French;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Not be a refugee claimant.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a name=\"criticalworker\"><\/a>Northwest Territories Critical Impact Worker Program<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In order to qualify under this program, the following criteria must be satisfied:<\/p>\n<p>The Employer must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Have a job vacancy;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Identify a potential nominee;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Be a registered business, industry association or week);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Be in an occupation that falls into NOC skill levels C or D;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Provide a comparable industry rate of pay;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Be in good standing with the Worker\u2019s Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) and the NWT Employment Standards Office.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Nominee must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Have a temporary work permit and have worked in the same position for six months;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Provide proof of sufficient financial or settlement supports in the NWT;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Have the required work experience for the specific occupation;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Be able to conduct basic communications in either English or French;\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Not be a refugee claimant.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a name=\"entrepreneurbus\"><\/a>Northwest Territories Entrepreneur Business Program<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In order to qualify under this program, the applicant must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Invest:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">A minimum of $300,000 CDN equity into starting or buying a business within the corporate boundaries of Yellowknife, NWT, <strong>or<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">A minimum of $150,000 CDN equity into starting or buying a business outside of the corporate boundaries of Yellowknife, NWT.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Have a personal net worth of:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">At least $500,000 CDN if starting or buying a business within the corporate boundaries of Yellowknife, NWT,\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">At least $250,000 CDN if starting or buying a business outside the corporate boundaries of Yellowknife, NWT.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Have an additional $75,000 kept in a trust account and released upon completion of a Performance Agreement based on a business proposal;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Demonstrate a reasonable knowledge and understanding of the NWT and its economy;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Be able to demonstrate reasonable communication skills appropriate to the NWT;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Have the necessary experience and education to successfully implement the business plan.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\"><a name=\"selfemployedbus\"><\/a>Northwest Territories Self-Employed Business Program<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In order to qualify under this program, applicants must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Have a profession that is identified as a professional skill shortage;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Satisfy any certification or accreditation requirements for the particular profession or occupation;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">For regulated occupations, the nominee must meet all NWT regulatory authority requirements; if no regulatory authority exists within the NWT, then the Canadian licensing body will be consulted;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Demonstrate reasonable communication skills appropriate to the NWT;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Demonstrate reasonable knowledge and understanding of the NWT and its economy;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Demonstrate access to sufficient financial resources to start and operate the professional practice and to support themselves and any dependents for a period of six months;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em\">Submit a detailed business plan for the business or practice.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Northwest Territories PNP processing times<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The GNWT published processing time for reviewing an application for the Skilled Worker and Critical
